The Turku Church of the Holy Martyr Empress Alexandra

The church was built between 1839-1845 according to the plans of C.L. Engel. It was inaugurated to use on the 2nd of September 1846. The church is dedicated to the memory of the holy martyr empress Alexandra (d. 303). The history of the church is available as a book. 

The temple feast (praasniekka) of the holy martyr empress Alexandra is celebrated on the 23rd of April.

The Rauma Chapel of Saint Nicholas

The Chapel of Rauma has been built into a house located in Old Rauma. The oldest parts of the house are estimated to be from the 17th century. One of the two wings of the house has been styled as a chapel. The chapel was built according to the reconstruction law in 1955, and it was inaugurated into use on the 2nd of November 1956. It has been dedicated to saint Nicholas, archbishop of Myra in Lycia.

The temple feast (praasniekka) of saint Nicholas is celebrated on the 6th of December.

The Salo Chapel of the Holy Cross

The chapel is a Karelian style round-log chapel. It was dedicated to the memory of the Holy Cross on the 9th of September 1990. The chapel was designed according to old tradition by Arvo Happo, a parish member from Salo. The decorative wood carvings are also made by him. The icons were painted by Margit Lintu.

The temple feast (praasniekka) of the Holy Cross is celebrated on the 14th of September.

The Cemetery Chapel of Turku

The cemetery chapel was built in 1881 as the private burial chapel of the Kuvschinov merchant family. Some members of the family have been buried under the chapel, some in a family grave 50 meters away from the chapel. The chapel became property of the parish in the summer of 2012. The chapel is small, and it fits a maximum of 15 people at once.

Alexandra Hall

The main hall of the Turku orthodox parish house, the Alexandra hall, is named like the  Holy Martyr Empress Alexandra Church. Church coffee hour is regularly held in this hall after the liturgy on Sundays. The celebrations of the church year are also held in this hall, for example on Easter, Christmas or the temple feast of the church (praasniekka). Meetings of clubs, parish bazaars and other events are also held in the hall. The Alexandra hall is available to rent for private events. Address: Yliopistonkatu 19 B 3, Turku
