Administration

The supreme decision making authority in the parishes of the Orthodox Church of Finland is held by the board of parishioners. The board is elected by the parish members for a four year term. The meetings of the parish board are public.

The parish board elects a parish council for the duration of their term. The job of the parish council is to develop the spiritual life of the parish. They are responsible for the administration and the finances of the parish. They also prepare the decisions of the parish board, monitor the legality of them and execute them. The parish council supervises the interests of the parish, represents the parish and acts as the voice of the parish, unless otherwise stated in the law or church order.

The parish board also chooses the members of the parish commissions for their entire four year term. The statutory commissions are the property and elections commissions.
