You MUST NOT open them<\/div><\/li>\n<li><div class=\"wp-block-latest-posts__featured-image alignleft\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"225\" height=\"300\" src=\"https:\/\/ort.fi\/turku\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/06\/WhatsApp-Image-2026-06-09-at-13.18.24-225x300.jpeg\" class=\"attachment-medium size-medium wp-post-image\" alt=\"WhatsApp Image 2026 06 09 at 13.18.24\" style=\"\" srcset=\"https:\/\/ort.fi\/turku\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/06\/WhatsApp-Image-2026-06-09-at-13.18.24-225x300.jpeg 225w, https:\/\/ort.fi\/turku\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/06\/WhatsApp-Image-2026-06-09-at-13.18.24-768x1024.jpeg 768w, https:\/\/ort.fi\/turku\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/06\/WhatsApp-Image-2026-06-09-at-13.18.24-1152x1536.jpeg 1152w, https:\/\/ort.fi\/turku\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/06\/WhatsApp-Image-2026-06-09-at-13.18.24-e1781000352410.jpeg 500w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 225px) 100vw, 225px\" \/><\/div><a class=\"wp-block-latest-posts__post-title\" href=\"https:\/\/ort.fi\/turku\/2026\/06\/09\/information-regarding-languages-in-which-the-sunday-divine-liturgy-will-be-celebrated-effective-1-september-2026\/\">Information\u00a0regarding\u00a0languages\u00a0in\u00a0which\u00a0the\u00a0Sunday\u00a0Divine\u00a0Liturgy\u00a0will\u00a0be\u00a0celebrated,\u00a0effective\u00a01\u00a0September\u00a02026\u00a0<\/a><time datetime=\"2026-06-09T13:30:33+03:00\" class=\"wp-block-latest-posts__post-date\">9.6.2026<\/time><div class=\"wp-block-latest-posts__post-excerpt\">On 23&nbsp;March,&nbsp;the&nbsp;Parish&nbsp;Council&nbsp;of&nbsp;the&nbsp;Turku&nbsp;Orthodox&nbsp;Parish&nbsp;took&nbsp;the&nbsp;decision&nbsp;to&nbsp;put&nbsp;into&nbsp;effect&nbsp;the&nbsp;following&nbsp;reform&nbsp;regarding&nbsp;the&nbsp;use&nbsp;of&nbsp;languages&nbsp;in&nbsp;the&nbsp;Sunday&nbsp;celebration&nbsp;of&nbsp;the&nbsp;Divine&nbsp;Liturgy&nbsp;in&nbsp;the&nbsp;St. Alexandra Church.&nbsp;The&nbsp;primary&nbsp;language&nbsp;of&nbsp;the&nbsp;parish&nbsp;is&nbsp;Finnish,&nbsp;but&nbsp;in addition to&nbsp;this,&nbsp;each&nbsp;Sunday&nbsp;we&nbsp;also&nbsp;will&nbsp;take&nbsp;into&nbsp;account&nbsp;other&nbsp;primary&nbsp;language&nbsp;groups&nbsp;in&nbsp;our&nbsp;parish,&nbsp;according&nbsp;to&nbsp;the&nbsp;following&nbsp;weekly&nbsp;rhythm:&nbsp; Each&nbsp;first&nbsp;Sunday&nbsp;of&nbsp;the&nbsp;month&nbsp;in addition of&nbsp;Finnish&nbsp;we&nbsp;will&nbsp;also&nbsp;use&nbsp;Slavonic&nbsp;and&nbsp;Ukrainian;&nbsp; On&nbsp;each&nbsp;second&nbsp;Sunday&nbsp;the&nbsp;languages&nbsp;will&nbsp;be&nbsp;Finnish&nbsp;and&nbsp;Greek;&nbsp; On&nbsp;each&nbsp;third&nbsp;Sunday&nbsp;the&nbsp;languages&nbsp;will&nbsp;be&nbsp;Finnish&nbsp;and Romanian;&nbsp; On&nbsp;each&nbsp;fourth&nbsp;Sunday&nbsp;the&nbsp;languages&nbsp;will&nbsp;be&nbsp;Finnish&nbsp;and English, and&nbsp; When&nbsp;there&nbsp;is a&nbsp;fifth&nbsp;Sunday&nbsp;in&nbsp;the&nbsp;month,&nbsp;the&nbsp;languages&nbsp;will&nbsp;be&nbsp;Finnish&nbsp;and&nbsp;Swedish.&nbsp; This&nbsp;rhythm&nbsp;is&nbsp;subject&nbsp;to&nbsp;change&nbsp;during&nbsp;the&nbsp;course&nbsp;of&nbsp;the&nbsp;church&nbsp;year;&nbsp;we&nbsp;will&nbsp;always&nbsp;announce&nbsp;such&nbsp;changes&nbsp;in&nbsp;the&nbsp;parish&nbsp;online&nbsp;calendar&nbsp;of&nbsp;church&nbsp;services&nbsp;(link).&nbsp; We&nbsp;will&nbsp;be&nbsp;following&nbsp;the&nbsp;following&nbsp;template&nbsp;for&nbsp;the&nbsp;liturgical&nbsp;use&nbsp;of&nbsp;languages&nbsp;:&nbsp; In&nbsp;the&nbsp;following&nbsp;paces&nbsp;in&nbsp;the&nbsp;service,&nbsp;both&nbsp;languages&nbsp;will&nbsp;be&nbsp;used:&nbsp;the&nbsp;gospel,&nbsp;Creed,&nbsp;Lord\u2019s&nbsp;Prayer, and&nbsp;the&nbsp;Confession&nbsp;of&nbsp;Faith&nbsp;before&nbsp;Communion.&nbsp;The&nbsp;priest&nbsp;and&nbsp;choir&nbsp;will&nbsp;read&nbsp;and&nbsp;sing&nbsp;parts&nbsp;of&nbsp;the&nbsp;Liturgy&nbsp;in&nbsp;the&nbsp;other&nbsp;language&nbsp;when&nbsp;possible. In addition,&nbsp;the&nbsp;sermon&nbsp;will&nbsp;be&nbsp;given&nbsp;in&nbsp;both&nbsp;languages&nbsp;when&nbsp;possible.&nbsp; A&nbsp;booklet&nbsp;will&nbsp;be&nbsp;used&nbsp;for&nbsp;the&nbsp;people&nbsp;during&nbsp;services,&nbsp;where&nbsp;the&nbsp;parts&nbsp;to&nbsp;be&nbsp;sung&nbsp;or&nbsp;recited&nbsp;together&nbsp;are&nbsp;in&nbsp;two&nbsp;languages. If&nbsp;you&nbsp;would&nbsp;like&nbsp;to&nbsp;a copy of&nbsp;the&nbsp;booklet&nbsp;for&nbsp;yourself, it&nbsp;can&nbsp;be&nbsp;found&nbsp;as a&nbsp;free&nbsp;downloadable&nbsp;PDF file on&nbsp;the&nbsp;parish&nbsp;website.&nbsp; Orthodox&nbsp;Christian tradition&nbsp;has&nbsp;the&nbsp;practice&nbsp;of&nbsp;bringing&nbsp;koliva&nbsp;(specially&nbsp;prepared&nbsp;boiled&nbsp;wheat) to&nbsp;memorial&nbsp;services&nbsp;for&nbsp;the&nbsp;departed&nbsp;.
